A Really Cool Neoclassical Guitar Lick

It combines the guitar styles of Gary Moore and Yngwie Malmsteen

Here’s a lick in the key of A minor. It’s based on a B diminished arpeggio played with:

• hammer-ons and pull-offs; and

• sweep picking

which then ends on an A minor arpeggio.

I got the B diminished hammer-on and pull-off lick from Dirty Fingers, an incredible one minute and nine second guitar instrumental by the late great Irish guitarist Gary Moore.

The sweep picking portion is a typical Yngwie Malmsteen lick, as is the final part ending with an A minor arpeggio.
